This is one of only 28 UK delivered right hand drive Club Sport versions of the rare first edition of the 996 GT3, virtually hand made by the Motor Sport division of Porsche. Not only was this the first GT3, it also of course is the first Mezger-engined 911 Road car.
Many of these have had a rather hard life to say the least with heavy track use, modification and subsequent damage. This 29,500-mile example remains in very good, unmolested order throughout, exactly how you would hope to find one.
It was supplied new by Glenvarigill Ltd, the Porsche main dealer in Edinburgh at this time on the 17th of September 1999 as confirmed in the original stamped service book. It has continued to be carefully maintained by each subsequent owner since as indicated in service stamps and detailed in the extensive invoicing on file.
The last two owners, both regular Hairpin customers, have covered minimal mileage but have diligently maintained it with the Porsche Centres in Swindon and Norwich. It will be fully serviced once again prior to delivery to its new owner.
A couple of years ago I drove the car from North Devon back to the Cotswolds using a great non-motorway route and what a tremendously engaging and enigmatic driving tool the early GT3 is. It has all the quality and dependability one expects of the marque whilst remaining analogue with a degree of rawness combined with modern amenity and mile eating capability. Frankly, amazing value for money for a hand built rare Porsche Motor Sport model. How long can they remain at this price level?
It comes with a full book pack, tools, all keys and the above-mentioned file of invoicing and MOT certificates.
