2003 Porsche 911 Turbo

For every generation of Porsche’s fantastic 911 that has come after the mid-70s, one variant has stood above all. A variant that often on the outside has been similar to the car that stands as the basis but with an interior that is something completely different. For many, the only thing that has been a visual difference has been the ‘Turbo’ emblem at the rear (for the knowledgeable of course more).

Le véhicule en détail

But that little emblem makes about the same difference as the iPhone emblem on the back of a phone today compared to a Motorola flip-phone. during the 70s and 80s, Turbo cars were synonymous with the term ‘widowmaker’ as the cars were particularly toxic and slightly unpredictable. With the 993 generation, the car got four-wheel drive for the first time to make them more user-friendly and this combined with better and better chassis and turbo response thanks to double turbo made the Turbo the ultimate sports car. The generation that followed refined the recipe. 996 Turbo. Perhaps the most beautiful thing Porsche made at the time.

A wide and aggressive but restrained exterior. A car that the average person would walk past on the street without reacting but who knows… This example is specified in an elegant Basalt black and stands proudly on its timeless 18″ hollow spoke ‘Turbo Twist’ rims shod in Michelin rubber.

The exterior is a symphony of round shapes and soft lines that somehow inexplicably form something sharp and aggressive. The rear fender has been given a generous intake to feed the engine with fresh air and for the first time on a 911 Turbo we see active aerodynamics in the form of a hydraulic rear wing. The interior continues the same shape and color palette. Black leather throughout that dresses round shapes. The driver’s seat is simple and functional. No multifunction steering wheel or digital gauge cluster. The center console houses PCM with GPS which, 21 years later, may not be in the same class as Google Maps but something that immediately pleases the driver as a look back to 2003. Here is also the handset for the built-in phone. Not cordless, of course. As it should be. Sports seats and full leather and sound system from BOSE. This is a particularly well cared for example of one of our favorite variants of Porsche’s phenomenal 996. Sparingly used and in a very nice condition.
