Porsche has always saved the best for last with their 911 Turbo S models. These are Stuttgart’s finest turbocharged 911s for street use, rasing performance over an already exceptional car yet uncompromising in terms of driver and passenger comfort. Alongside that additional performance comes limited build numbers, making the Turbo S a surefire collectable.

In the case of the 996-generation 911, which entered production as the first water-cooled 911 in 1997, the model had been in production for seven years before the 911 Turbo S was introduced. This gave Porsche’s engineers plenty of time to learn lessons from earlier 996s, ensuring that this final run of 911 Turbo S’ would be nothing short of exceptional. Many features that were options on the more commonplace 911 Turbo were installed on the 911 Turbo S as standard. These included the X50 performance package (which bumped total output to 450 brake horsepower), carbon ceramic brakes, aluminium-faced instruments, and a CD changer. These cars also boasted larger turbochargers and improved intercoolers, raising torque to 457 ft-lbs.

Between the 996 Turbo S Coupes and Cabriolets, rougly 980 examples were built in total, with about two thirds of those being coupes. Breaking down production even further, only 186 Turbo S Coupes were designated for the U.S. market, with the example offered here likely being amongst the lowest mileage examples in existence.

Finished in Speed Yellow over a black leather interior, this Turbo S was first delivered in Ohio and had moved to Floida by August 2005, where it would remain for the majority of its life, only moving to the northeast when acquired by the current owner last year. Having been driven less than 9,050 miles from new, it presents in exceptional codnition throughout. It is accompanied by its original owners manuals, two sets of keys, and a clean Carfax report. The car’s last service was carried out by Porsche of Owings Mills in Maryland at 8,581 miles, and has been just over 500 miles since then.

Nearly twenty years old, the 911 Turbo S is regarded amongst the most desirable 996-generation 911s, and for good reason. Today, it is quickly emerging into sought after collector car and with few pristine examples available, this particular Turbo S warrants serious consideration. It remains ready for whatever its next owner has in store.
