The Porsche Type 997 appeared in dealerships in 2004 and is considered the sixth generation of Porsche 911.

In September 2010, Porsche reveals, first in photos and then at the Paris Motor Show, the Porsche 997 Carrera GTS. It is considered the « intermediate » model between the Turbo version and the GT3 designed for the circuits.

The GTS differs from the other 911s in that it has separate front and rear fascias, wheels with a central nut as standard and optimized lowering and aerodynamics. Even today, the black exterior touches are a hallmark of GTS models. It also benefits from the 44 mm wider rear track found on the all-wheel drive Carrera 4s, while it was available with rear-wheel or four-wheel drive.

This Porsche is equipped with the X51 engine kit that develops 408 horsepower and is reached at 7300 rpm thanks to its rear longitudinal flat 6-cylinder 3800cm3 24 valve direct injection engine. Its top speed is equal to 306 km/h with a 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6s. This 997 Carrera GTS is therefore positioned between the Carrera S with 385 hp and the GT3 racing car with 435 hp.

The 997 Carrera GTS is a relatively rare model that will be a milestone in the production of the 997. The production of the 997 Carrera GTS coupe was 2656 units.
