PORSCHE 911 (997.2) GT3 RS 3.8, 2010

Hexagon Classics are delighted to offer this rare, low mileage 997 Gen II GT3 RS, which looks quite stunning with its sporting livery. As Porsche stated, “Life is not a spectator sport.”

To increase the engine power of the standard GT3, the RS received a new air intake system and air filter.  The 3.8 litre engine and enhanced VarioCam timing, produced performance figures of 450hp at 7,900 rpm and 430 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. The car revs all the way to 8,500 rpm!

The gearbox ratio was 13% shorter in gears one to five than a standard GT3, and the short shift offers more precise changes. The single-mass flywheel is lighter and allows the engine to rev more freely. A weight-to-power ratio of only 3.0kg/hp was achieved using materials taken directly from motorsport, including titanium, aluminium, and carbon. More power, greater driving dynamics, less weight.

The RS is not only 44mm wider at the rear axle but also 26mm wider at the front axle to allow a wider toe-angle. The new air inlet grilles allow greater cooling, and the fixed rear wing uses race technology to allow excellent driving stability and downforce. The wheels, wing mirrors, logo on wings and engine lid are painted in a contrasting colour.

The 997 GT3 RS is increasing in collectability, and great, low-mileage examples are increasingly difficult to source.  Supplied new by Porsche UK in June 2010, it has a full Porsche main dealer service history, original handbook pack and spare keys and VTS fobs.  The last service was carried out by Porsche Centre Reading in July 2020 at 17,495 miles, at a cost of £2,900.  Porsche’s over rev test shows ignitions in rev range No.1 only.
