the appeal: this is the last gt3 to feature the legendary mezger engine, the race-bred, high-revving unit that screams past 8,000 rpm with a sound that is both outrageous in the absolute best way and so addicting. it is also the final gt3 with that classic 911 chassis feel: a narrow front track, a more pronounced rear end, and a shorter wheelbase than the 991 that followed. all of that combines to deliver the kind of pendulum-style handling that made early 911s so engaging. the steering is pure hydraulic, so the feedback is raw, direct, and full of detail, something you just don’t get anymore. plus, there is minimal interference from electronic aids, letting the driver stay fully in control. all of this gives the 997 gt3 a raw, analog feel that sets it apart from every gt3 that came after.
