The Porsche 911 997. The successor to the 996; A Porsche that Porsche itself, at the time, was eager to forget. The 996 was for most enthusiasts, a kleines Fehler. Its air-cooled boxer was exchanged for one with water cooling, the iconic headlight shape disappeared. That didn’t fall nicely among the loyal Stuttgart enthusiast core, so Porsche came up with the 997. A car that made you forget the past. We hear you thinking; Is that really the case? We can be pretty short about that; If you’re looking for the right one, absolutely!

The 997 was delivered from 2004 and well refreshed in 2009. Newer techniques, all the teething problems were gone and its appearance was also slightly changed. The rear lights got a nod at the bottom, were fitted with LED and in the front came an LED strip. It’s the little details neighbor, but a « first generation 997 » is nice too, mind you!

Nowadays your friends will be able to guess it in the pub if you make the introduction; I bought a sports car. Equivalent to that comment, someone will exclaim; A 911! How do you know that? Well, because it is the most reliable AND usable sports car! But, the bulk are gray or black and are not fully equipped. This first Dutch owner thought otherwise; He ordered it from the Porsche Exclusive department. Something about paying more, so you can tick things that a ‘normal 911 customer’ can’t order so quickly.

End result? Bizarre! Macadamia Metallic, Beige and dark brown leather, co-washed interior parts, bucket seats; Finished with everything in leather with double stickers on the 19-inch ‘speed-line’ wheels. Equipped with all options, all original paint and dealer maintained. Now you again, neighbor!
