Unveiled in 2006, the Porsche 911 GT3 type 997 marks a major milestone in the history of the brand’s naturally aspirated GTs. Developed by the Motorsport department in Weissach, it continues the tradition started with the 996 GT3 by retaining the legendary Mezger flat-six engine derived from competition. For the 997, this 3.6-litre naturally aspirated engine develops 415 horsepower and stands out for its ability to rev up to 8,500 rpm, offering a sound and character that have become iconic. Exclusively available with a 6-speed manual gearbox, the 997 GT3 boasts a pure, almost rustic approach to driving, focused on driver engagement and chassis efficiency. It benefits from extensive weight reduction, functional aerodynamics with a fixed spoiler and a race-derived running gear, including PASM and brakes sized for intensive use. With class-leading performance for its time (0 to 100 km/h in just over 4 seconds and a top speed of over 300 km/h), the 997 GT3 is now considered one of the truly analogue Porsches. Produced in 5,463 units, including the RS versions, it is now sought after both for the purity of its driving experience and for the legendary robustness of its engine.
