From the company’s earliest days, Porsche has always been about pushing the limits of what is possible and constantly improving on the vehicles they design. For over 60 years, they worked on refining the internal combustion engine, building engines that combined staggering performance with long-term durability which earned them countless racing titles, and made Porsche the go-to sports car for every day driving. So when Porsche debuted their all-electric Taycan at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, it was met with mixed reviews. Based on the Mission-E concept from 2015, the Taycan was a beautifully sculpted shape that had the body sitting down around the wheels, the Taycan moved forward the idea of what a production electric car could look like. Once the Taycan began production in 2020, the skeptics were put to rest- the Turbo and Turbo S variants of the car remain some of the fastest accelerating cars on the road and in typical Porsche fashion, the driving experience has been carefully dialed in to feel as sporty as the rest of the cars in their lineup. Quickly, Porsche realized there was the potential to expand the Taycan line with different body styles that would offer greater practicality, without sacrificing performance and in 2021, they unveiled the Cross Turismo. A lifted, 4-door with a wagon bodystyle, the Cross Turismo offered the best of both worlds- all of the performance of the Taycan sedan, paired with the practicality of a wagon or crossover. The Cross Turismo added black plastic trim to the Taycan and introduced a new selectable Gravel drive mode. Even factoring in the greater off road abilities, the Cross Turismo saw no decrease in performance, with the Turbo S able to sprint from 0-60 MPH in just 2.7 seconds!
