Porsche Artifacts Book / Type 7
The *Type 7 / Porsche Artifacts* book is an art book that offers an unparalleled glimpse into Porsche’s Historical Archive and captures, through rich photography, a curated collection of millions of objects that have shaped Porsche over the past 75 years. From technical notebooks to the original sketch of the iconic Porsche crest, each object is presented in a profound way designed to evoke the feeling of stepping into the vault in Stuttgart as an archivist and exploring the physical history of Porsche.
Millions of items have been curated into a meaningful selection that covers the entire scope of the archive. Items from the Porsche family, equipment from Porsche’s design and development history, and documents related to iconic vehicles—all of which are directly linked to the vehicles on display at the Porsche Museum. Each of the selected objects was photographed by Creative Director and photographer Thomas Walk in a studio set up specifically for this purpose in Zuffenhausen, while the vehicles were photographed on site at the Porsche Museum.
This large-format illustrated book comprises 356 pages and is accompanied by a separate, pull-out index that details the stories behind each object, written by Type 7 editor Nat Twiss. The result is a reading experience that feels as though you are stepping into a vault and exploring the physical history of Porsche.
Readers can expect a truly aesthetic experience from the *Porsche Artifacts* book. *Artifacts* comes in a paper design featuring elements reminiscent of design sketches. Upon unpacking, readers will find the archive box with reinforced metal corners. After breaking the seal, the book’s red slipcase is revealed, inspired by its racing heritage and the thousands of document folders lining the shelves of the archive. Readers gradually unravel the book as a physical experience: they unwind a cord, explore the exposed binding techniques, and finally discover the treasure trove of photos and information inside.
