Curiously, the fascinating story of the Lightspeed Classic begins with the criticism of an annoyed female passenger who complained about the lack of comfort in the 964 RS Clubsport while driving back from a joint trip through the Alps. For us, the question immediately arose as to whether the classic 911 could not simply be equipped with new technology and modern design components and thus converted into a comfortable everyday vehicle.
No sooner said than done: The Lightspeed Classic project was born! In the implementation of this demanding task, we incorporated our concentrated competence and quality craftsmanship in the technical structure and the high-precision finish. Of course, it was particularly important to bring all components up to date and, in some cases, to improve them based on our many years of racing knowledge. In order to obtain a well-functioning chassis and thus ideal road holding, it was necessary to optimize the total weight with maximum torsional rigidity. For this purpose, the body was reinforced at the points that were decisive for us in order to be able to absorb the forces introduced by the chassis perfectly. Here too, of course, we benefited from our 25 years of Porsche racing experience. In addition, we had to develop a completely new exhaust system in order to be able to preserve the wonderful old-school racing sound on the one hand and at the same time comply with the legal requirements, including exhaust gas cleaning with a catalytic converter.
In the end we were faced with a fantastic result that fills us with great pride: A unique Porsche 911 with classic proportions and modern technology for the best possible suitability for everyday use. And all this combined with the highest quality and great attention to detail. This is exactly what makes a Lightspeed Classic so distinctive.
