This Gunther Werks 400R is known as the “Bianco Rosso Comission” – owing to the car’s pearlescent white over red color combination. Rolling on a set of Fuchs-inspired forged 3-piece wheels that sit in front of Brembo disc brakes with red calipers – throughout the car, there are numerous callbacks to classic 911s, yet the overall shape remains fresh. On the interior, the Bianco Rosso Commission is a stunning melding of carbon fiber, red Alcantara, and black leather. The carbon fiber bucket seats offer exceptional bolstering and look outstanding, and bits of carbon tub are poking through around the cabin- so that you don’t forget what makes the vehicle so special. The 4.0-liter Rothsport engine is paired with a Getrag G50 6-speed transaxle with custom ratios, and the suspension is expertly developed with bespoke KW Clubsport coilovers. Gunther Werks has moved on from the 400R and is developing other variants based on the 993. If you want to experience the original, they are quite a rarity and don’t often come up for sale. One of the things that makes the Porsche 911 such a beloved enthusiast car is the potential for customization. Since the earliest days of the model, hot rodding has been an essential part of the model’s history, and in recent years, a few companies have taken that ethos to the extreme. One of the companies that are pushing boundaries the most these days is Gunther Werks. Based in Southern California, Gunther Werks begins the build of its 400R with Porsche’s beloved 993 chassis 911 before reengineering everything, transforming the car from a nice driving classic to a sub-2,700 lb, 435 horsepower monster. The shape of the car integrates elements of many different 993s – with particular attention paid to the GT2 – and then crafts the bodywork largely out of carbon fiber to save weight. The carbon fiber theme carries through to the interior, combining the lightweight material with Alcantara for a stripped-down yet luxurious interior feel. Powering the car is an air-cooled 4.0-liter flat-6 built by Rothsport of Oregon – this engine revs to 7,800 rpm and produces linear power throughout the rev range. Only 25 of these 400Rs will be produced, and they are all spoken for.
