Porsche 996 Turbo – The modern powerhouse

The Porsche 996 Turbo, introduced in 2000, marked an important moment in 911 history: it was the first water-cooled Turbo and a technical tour de force for its time.

Key features: Engine: 3.6-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder boxer engine, based on the robust Mezger engine from the 911 GT1. It produces 420 hp and 560 Nm of torque. Performance: 0-100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 305 km/h – super fast, even by modern standards.

Appearance: Wider bodywork than the standard 996, with larger air intakes in the front bumper and a fixed rear spoiler – functional and recognizable.

Turbo S version (2005): As a farewell model, the Turbo S received 450 hp, ceramic brakes (PCCB), and was more richly equipped as standard.

The 996 Turbo combined brutal power with everyday comfort and reliability. Today it is increasingly appreciated as a modern classic, with its timeless performance, Mezger block and relatively modest prices compared to later Turbos.
