The highest performance specification available of Singer’s Classic Study: 4.0-litre engine, Ohlins adjustable suspension, and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes
Fifteen years since their foundation, Singer Vehicle Design has turned themselves from a small Los Angeles shop with a dream to perfect the air-cooled Porsche 911 into a globally recognized firm with production facilities in both the US and UK, building cars to excruciatingly high standards for clients around the world. This dream, ‘reimagining’ 964-generation cars with looks paying homage to pre-1973 911 but with performance to match supercars of today, has brought them near-universal acclaim from everyday enthusiasts, the motoring press, and those fortunate enough to afford one of their incredible creations.
Completed in early 2024, the Sotto Commission was the 300th 911 to be reimagined as a Classic Study by Singer Vehicle Design. This was a landmark moment for Singer and as such the car was reported on widely throughout the motoring press, by publications such as Top Gear, Robb Report, Autoweek, Hemmings, and Motor Authority amongst others.
Only 450 Classic Studies will be reimagined by Singer, leaving those cars as the model that brought about the company’s rise to fame, while Singer continues producing the Dynamics & Lightweight Study and Turbo Study models. Using the 964 as a basis, buyers could choose between Coupe and Targa body style and rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive layouts as the basis of their new car. The attention to detail in Singer reimagining these cars is unsurpassed in the industry, with each and every car being hand-built as a bespoke commission for each individual customer. With the company’s motto of ‘Everything is Important,’ this shines through in each car built.
Based upon a 1990 964-generation rear-wheel drive 911 Targa, the car is finished in a unique paintwork called ‘Resistance Blue’ with ‘light ghosted stripes’ to match the paintwork. Further options include the Ed Pink 4.0-litre engine (the highest displacement engine available), Ohlins sport adjustable suspension, Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, nickel-plated bumperettes, Singer script in nickel, nickel wheel centers, and titanium sports exhaust. Interior options include carbon bucket seats, tunnels and sills painted in Resistance Blue, grommets and Singer interior script finished in nickel, and the Porsche Classic navigation system.
Completed by Singer in December of 2023, it was delivered to its first and only owner earlier this year locally in California. Today, it remains in as-delivered condition, having only accumulated delivery and test miles since the completion of Singer’s exhausting work, showing less than 100 miles at the time of cataloguing. With production of the Classic Study coming to a close and the remainder of production spoken for, low mileage examples will only become more difficult to find, leaving the tantalizing opportunity to acquire the Sotto Commission as one that should not be overlooked.
