MODEL HISTORY

Introduced in 2010, phase 2 of the 911 GT3 RS (997.2) brings a host of improvements and a brand new design. The latter is much sportier on the GT3 RS and, in addition to the changes made across the range, stands out from its predecessor with a brand new spoiler, wider front wings and even larger exhausts, among other features. And the mechanics are not to be outdone, with 450 hp at 7,900 rpm. The gearbox is shorter, offering a livelier and more responsive drive. The new engine has more displacement, with 3.8 instead of 3.6 litres, and the performance follows suit, going from 0 to 200 km/h in 12.2 seconds compared to 13.3 seconds for phase 1. The car is more aggressive than its predecessor and also slightly lighter, despite the addition of new features and equipment. It is 5 kg lighter thanks to lighter door interiors, a plastic rear window and a new spoiler made of more aluminium and carbon fibre components. Its sound, already extraordinary on the RS phase 1, is even more vocal thanks to a larger titanium exhaust. Unanimously recognised as a real success, the 997 GT3 RS phase 2 now symbolises the swan song of the analogue 911 and is a must-have collector’s item for driving purists.
