Formally we have missed 20 years. At least! With a wink, the Porsche AG could well present this model of the 928ers as a successful retro-edition of over 40 years presented over-Porsche, without surprising the viewer. At most perhaps with the perception of how well the new edition has succeeded … And yet you can not say it often enough and thus strain you as a reader – we are talking about a real old-timer, with its 5.0 V8 engine, its 330 hp, its revolutionary Weissach rear axle and its still achievable 300 km / h maximum speed astonished, almost thrilled! What a tremendous engineering achievement was made at that time, after nearly 50 years at Porsche, the idea germinated, now to take care of a 911er-successor. The fact that it would create this extremely cost-intensive construction by the year 1995 and made it through all model maintenance to a nearly 20-year-old production, is all the more astonishing, considering that already in the early 90s at Porsche a rough headwind blew. The company was progressively worse and worse, shaken by the market and the antiquated manufacturing methods of up to 70 hours per vehicle.
