Your key to a world of Porsche pleasure – Arrive, get in and drive off

Wolfgang Hämmerlin wants to offer his international Porsche customers even more service in the future than just help finding the right car. Through Klassik Expertise, he not only arranges purchasing advice, worldwide pre-purchase inspections, and technical evaluations, but also – upon request – registration, insurance, maintenance and Porsche storage in Germany. The idea behind it is simple: Anyone who wants to drive their car in Europe shouldn’t have to deal with paperwork, workshop appointments, or logistics. They should arrive, get in and enjoy the drive.
Radek’s first 911 is waiting at Klassik Expertise
A morning in Althengstett offers a glimpse of what that might look like. In the Klassik Expertise showroom, a Porsche 993 Turbo stands covered with a cloth. Metallic black, WLS 1, manual transmission – one of those 911s that have been iconic poster cars for an entire generation. Next to it sits a Mercedes SLS AMG. Wolfgang Hämmerlin found, inspected, purchased and prepared both vehicles for Radek. The entrepreneur from Poland has known Wolfgang for only a few months. Until this day, the two had never met in person.
As Wolfgang Hämmerlin and his son Valentin pull the cover off the 993 Turbo, Radek stands a few steps away. For him, it’s his first Porsche 911 – and his first moment with a car he’d previously known only from pictures and Wolfgang’s descriptions. “It was like Christmas as a kid,” he says later. His expectations were even exceeded: “The car was even better than I’d hoped.”
Trust has to be earned before the first order
Radek is no stranger to the world of collectible cars. The entrepreneur already owns a collection of high-end vehicles, knows the market, and understands just how much joy a good purchase can bring. But he also knows how expensive it can get if the car’s condition doesn’t live up to what the pictures and descriptions promise. There’s always some residual risk, especially with remote purchases or auctions. Radek has already experienced exactly that himself at an auction in Japan.
Radek found Wolfgang through Elferspot and gave him a call. Instead of immediately presenting prices and packages, Wolfgang listened and asked a lot of questions. What kind of car is Radek really looking for? How does he plan to use it? What experiences has he had so far? What risks does he want to avoid? And where does he need an expert who will also speak up when an idea isn’t the best one?
Radek (right) felt, after his first phone call with Wolfgang Hämmerlin (left), that he had a true expert on his side.
This attitude impressed Radek. From their very first phone call, he had the feeling he was speaking with someone who was deeply knowledgeable about the subject but didn’t want to force anything on anyone. “Wolfgang was the perfect guide for me,” he says. “From our very first conversation, I felt I could trust him completely. He knows exactly what he’s talking about – and just as well when he needs to bring in another specialist for a specific detail.”
“Good advice saves a lot of money in the long run”
For Wolfgang Hämmerlin, it’s rarely just about a specific car. Before he makes a purchase recommendation, he wants to understand how the customer wants to drive, what expectations they have for the vehicle, and where potential risks lie. Over the course of decades, he has built up expertise in sports cars and collector’s cars.
For Radek, Wolfgang Hämmerlin was the perfect advisor when he was looking for his first Porsche 911.
Porsche is Hämmerlin’s specialty – the older, the better. “For me, air-cooled Porsches are the best Porsches of all time,” he says. His second great passion is Mercedes. For other brands, he reaches out to specialists from his extensive network in Europe, the U.S., and the Middle East.
It was precisely this combination of personal expertise, a network, and a clear sense of self-assessment that was decisive for Radek. “I’ve bought cars sight unseen in the past and made mistakes,” he says. “Wolfgang helped me avoid exactly those risks. Good advice saves a lot of money in the long run.”
Why the 993 Turbo was a better fit
Radek originally had a pretty clear vision in mind: a Porsche 964 Turbo like in the Bad Boys movie. After extensive discussions with Wolfgang, however, it became clear that the car’s raw character wouldn’t perfectly match Radek’s requirements. Instead, he was looking for performance and classic 911 styling, but also a high level of comfort and practicality. Based on his experience, Wolfgang therefore recommended the 993 Turbo.
Put the joy of driving first, and even an investment with little return won’t be the end of the world.

In the end, it was a Porsche 993 Turbo with factory power kit, a classic color scheme, extremely low mileage, and a solid history from BjornSYX. There, the car underwent a major service, and at Klassik Expertise, it was thoroughly inspected once again before delivery. When Radek sees the car in person for the first time, he stands right in front of a dream car ready to hit the road.
In the end, the balance of performance, practicality, and comfort led Radek to choose the 993 Turbo over the 964.
Inspired by Porsche’s Tourist Delivery
The handover in Althengstett feels almost like picking up a car from an authorized dealer. Wolfgang Hämmerlin gives Radek a detailed explanation of the vehicle and goes into the unique characteristics of the air-cooled Turbo. It quickly becomes clear just how much expertise, honed over the years, is packed into this moment. Wolfgang knows the purpose of every switch and is familiar with the driving characteristics of the 993 Turbo. Radek also receives an expert explanation of all the vehicle’s features in the SLS AMG.
At Klassik Expertise, taking delivery of a vehicle feels almost like picking up a new car at an authorized dealership.
To give Radek the chance to experience his new cars, Wolfgang Hämmerlin has organized an event modeled after the Porsche Tourist Delivery of days gone by. In the 1960s and 1970s, international customers could pick up their new Porsche in Stuttgart and explore Europe with export license plates before Porsche handled transport to their home country. Wolfgang brings this concept into the present: He arranges the hotel, the route through the Black Forest, and much more for his customers. Each trip is tailored to individual preferences.
The Porsche Tourist Delivery models of the 1960s and 1970s inspired Wolfgang Hämmerlin to expand his offerings at Klassik Expertise.
New at Klassik Expertise: Storing, registering, and insuring your Porsche in Germany
Wolfgang Hämmerlin offers his international clientele another service: the day-to-day management of a Porsche in Germany. “Suppose a customer from the U.S. buys a special Porsche in Europe but doesn’t want to export it right away because it isn’t old enough to be imported tax-free. We can offer this customer professional storage, insurance, registration, and maintenance for the car in Germany. When the customer comes to Europe, they don’t need to organize any service appointments or transportation – we take care of that,” Wolfgang explains. “They should arrive, get in, and just drive.”
A 997 GT3 RS is waiting near Stuttgart – ready for its owner from abroad
Wolfgang uses a Porsche 997.1 GT3 RS to illustrate what this concept might look like. The car belongs to a customer from Dubai. The white Rennsport-911 with red accents, red wheels, a roll cage, and Nomex seats is not a museum piece, but a true driver’s car. It remains in Germany, is maintained by Wolfgang, and awaits its next outing near Stuttgart.
The owner regularly visits Germany to enjoy the GT3 RS. The Black Forest, the Alps, perhaps a track day – that’s exactly what the Porsche is ready for. This model offers several advantages for the customer. He can use his car in Europe, benefits from a clean German history, avoids unnecessary import and export processes, and has a local contact person who handles operational matters.
For his international clientele, Wolfgang Hämmerlin also handles vehicle storage, registration, and insurance upon request.
Wolfgang Hämmerlin sees this service as a comprehensive, personalized offering for classic car enthusiasts. “I like to say that I accompany my customers throughout the entire life cycle of a vehicle – from the initial idea to its later use and, if necessary, resale,” says the Porsche specialist. Anyone who wants to drive their car in the Black Forest can have it prepared. Anyone planning a vacation in the Alps can have the logistics to the hotel arranged. If a customer comes to Germany on short notice, they can ideally get into their car right at the airport and drive off.
Comprehensive service for international Porsche customers
“A Porsche is particularly appealing in Europe, especially for customers from the U.S., the Middle East, or Asia,” explains Hämmerlin. “The roads, the events, the proximity to Stuttgart, Weissach, and the Black Forest – for many, all of that is part of the experience,” the specialist notes. Wolfgang takes care of the practical matters such as registration, insurance, maintenance, vehicle inspections, transportation, or scheduling a workshop appointment.
“Wolfgang had everything perfectly organized. The hotel room was booked, the route was planned, and all I had to do was hop in and hit the road” – Radek
Wolfgang Hämmerlin knows the vehicles, their typical weak points, the specialists, repair shops, and dealers. His network extends far beyond Germany. Porsche, Mercedes, and AMG are his main focus, but he can call on the right specialists for other brands as well. “For many customers, the purchase itself isn’t the biggest challenge,” says Wolfgang. “The real work begins afterwards – older vehicles in particular require expert maintenance, regular inspections, and someone on-site who takes responsibility.”
Driving instead of just owning – experiences are more important than returns
Wolfgang Hämmerlin understands market values, return considerations, and the cycles of the collector’s market. His most important piece of advice, however, has nothing to do with the pursuit of profit: “Enjoying the car should come first. Anyone who buys the right car and actually uses it will be able to live with a decision that isn’t financially perfect,” the Porsche specialist sums it up.
Without the experiences, classic cars are just a pile of metal!
Wolfgang Hämmerlin, Klassik Expertise
This perspective also shapes his view of originality, modifications, and current trends. Wolfgang strives to understand cars within the context of their time: How was the vehicle intended by the manufacturer? What unique features define it? What gives it its character? That is precisely why he believes it is important that classic cars be not only collected, but also experienced.
For Wolfgang Hämmerlin, experiences are the key to a fulfilling ownership experience. That’s why he takes care of the day-to-day operations for his customers, leaving them more time to drive.
Your key to Porsche pleasure – Comprehensive support from the experts
Wolfgang Hämmerlin calls this new, comprehensive service approach “Your key to Porsche pleasure.” It refers to access to reliable advice, inspected vehicles, qualified specialists, and the most beautiful routes in the Black Forest, Germany, and Europe.

Radek is enjoying his 993 Turbo and the Mercedes SLS for a long weekend in the Black Forest. Afterward, Wolfgang Hämmerlin will handle transporting the cars to Poland. For Radek, Klassik Expertise was the key to finding the right car and having a very special first experience. Other customers use Wolfgang’s services in a different way: their Porsche stays in Germany, where it is registered, insured, stored, and prepared for their next trips to Europe.
The best cars may already have been built, but their story is far from over.
Wolfgang Hämmerlin, Klassik Expertise
Ultimately, though, it all comes down to the same idea: a collector’s car realizes its value not through mere ownership, but through experiences. This requires people who understand, maintain, and drive it. Wolfgang Hämmerlin creates the framework for this, so that his customers can focus on what matters most – driving. Wolfgang is convinced: “The best cars may already have been built, but their story is far from over.”
