The 911 Targa 4S is one of the most characteristic models of the 997.2 generation.
With its panoramic glass roof and opening tailgate, it bridges the gap between coupé and cabriolet, setting it apart from all other 911 models. In addition to the clever roof system, the "S" version brought the larger 3.8-liter boxer engine and a wider body, giving the Targa a real performance advantage.
Rare and sought-after: the Targa 4S was aimed at a small, discerning customer group looking for individuality without compromise. It was configured in the familiar 997 communication color Nordic Gold Metallic and used by the factory for marketing and press purposes. This can be recognized by the equipment code "741 - press vehicle".
The first registration in Stuttgart was then made on a license plate in the "S-GO" scheme, which at Porsche stands for the Public Relations division.
The Targa still has its original service booklet with first delivery on July 14, 2008, as well as service entries at Plant 2 until July 2009.
It is most likely one of the first 40 997.2 Targa to be equipped with the new "MA101" 3.8-liter naturally aspirated engine with 385 hp and the optional 7-speed PDK transmission.
As a press vehicle, the Targa was particularly extensively equipped. Some of the options are:
- Full leather interior in sea blue
- Heated seats and steering wheel
- Rear window wiper
- ParkAssist system
- Sport Chrono Package Plus
- PCM voice control
- BOSE High End Sound System with six-disc CD/DVD changer
- Three-spoke PDK multifunction steering wheel in smooth leather
- Rear center console in leather
- TV tuner
- Rear axle differential with limited slip (LSD)
- 19-inch Carrera S II wheels
- Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM)
In 2010, this 997.2 Targa 4S was purchased by the current owner through the Porsche Center Dresden, with a mileage of 25,745 km (assuming only about 2,500 examples were produced between 2009 and 2012).
Over the last 15 years, it has been carefully maintained with regular servicing. All invoices since 2010 are available and can be viewed.
This also includes an inspection including a new MOT in April 2025. In November 2011 (at 44,338 km), a fantastic-sounding Porsche sports exhaust system was retrofitted at an official Porsche Center.
Thanks to its use as a press car and the many years of careful care by the current owner, this 911 is one of the most interesting and desirable 997.2 Targa currently available.
