The Porsche 718 Spyder RS was officially unveiled in May 2023 in Atlanta. This is the most radical version of the 718 range, crowning the Boxster family with a model focused on performance. It marks a significant milestone in the history of Porsche mid-engine sports cars, integrating for the first time in the 718 Spyder range a naturally aspirated engine derived directly from the 911 GT3. Designed to offer an optimal compromise between lightness, driving precision, and pure performance, the Spyder RS is aimed at enthusiasts looking for a road-legal car that’s also built for the track.
The optional Weissach Package reinforces the radical character of the 718 Spyder RS by adding exposed carbon elements to the hood, air intakes, and spoiler, while also integrating a lighter titanium roll cage and specific titanium exhaust tailpipes. The interior features an extensive Race-Tex finish. This package also offers the option of optional forged magnesium wheels, further reducing weight without affecting pure performance.
The 718 Spyder RS is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six developing 500 hp at 8,400 rpm and 450 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. This engine is paired exclusively with a 7-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. Thanks to a DIN curb weight reduced to 1,410 kg, the car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 192 mph. Aerodynamics have also been optimized, notably with a fixed rear wing inspired by the GT3’s “swan-neck” style, providing maximum downforce.
