Here’s your chance to own a genuinely one-off Porsche 911 (1973) T Coupe — currently belonging to the creative director of Duck & Whale, the magazine dedicated entirely to Porsche culture. This car is well known, well loved, and has lived a rich life.
Mechanically, it’s a thoughtful, cohesive package. Bosch CIS injection keeps it clean and reliable. 911S brakes with race pads give it proper stopping power. It’s built to run track sessions or spirited country roads without complaint or fade, it will easily keep pace with anything with a Carrera in it’s name. The idea was simple: capture the power-to-weight spirit of a 1973 911 RS — around 1,000 kg and 200 hp. And it does exactly that.
With its lightened flywheel, short-ratio 915 gearbox, and LSD, the car feels immediate and alive — almost like a 1973 GT3 in attitude. The suspension is tuned for smooth tarmac, making it direct, predictable, and rewarding. Servicing and maintenance have been handled by PR Technology in Brookvale, one of Australia’s most respected independent Porsche outfits. Paul Jacobsohn, co-owner, climbs out of it every time with the same line: “It drives really well.” He should know.
It began as a California-delivered 911 T Targa in Light Ivory before being rebodied into a Coupe and developed for Super Sprints and performance driving. Reinforced throughout, it’s purpose-built and beautifully balanced — a car that talks to you, as opposed to at you. On road or track it delivers that rare feeling of car connection.
Trying to explain what this car delivers is almost impossible unless you’ve driven an early 911 on its toes. They’re so often tinkered with to the point of losing what makes them special. Light, communicative, beautifully balanced — Porsche absolutely nailed the recipe. And the 3.0-litre, in my view, is the sweet spot. Go bigger and you start pushing past that magic line; It’s as honest as an early 911 gets — a wonderfully pure, old-school drive. I’ve been fortunate enough to pilot a lot of 911s over the years, and it’s genuinely rare to find one that feels the way this ’73 T does.
It was painted four years ago in its Grand Prix White, with tidy door gaps and hand-painted livery. There are a few blemishes to note — a paint reaction on the bonnet and some small pinpoints. They could be easily addressed, but I never bothered; I was too busy driving it.
