Model history

With the 928, Porsche deliberately broke with tradition in the early 1970s: instead of an air-cooled rear engine, it opted for a newly developed, water-cooled V8 front engine and transaxle design – for perfect balance and high driving comfort. The design, with its rounded pop-up headlights, retracted C-pillar, and elastic rear end, was considered visionary when it was unveiled in 1977 and remained virtually unchanged until production ended in 1995. The 928 GT, a sportier version, combines superior long-distance capability with genuine Porsche DNA.
