This car is a truly beautiful piece of automotive history and ready to be shown at various events around the world. But thanks to its completely reworked engine and transmission, it is also ready to be driven on the open road.
In 1952, Porsche was still a small company that had just moved to Zuffenhausen, where they can still be found today. The model range consisted of only one model and production figures were low. In 1952 Porsche produced a total of 798 cars. 478 of these were coupés, making the 1952 one of the lowest production figures for Porsche. They didn’t produce fewer cars until 1950. This 1952 Coupe with Vinnumer 12034 is now offered for sale.
This particular car was made for the American market and sold by the famous American importer Hoffman Motors in New York City. After a lifetime in the United States, the car returned to Europe where it was very extensively and thoroughly restored by us. Every meticulous process was documented and photographed. The car was restored to its former glory in its original Azure Blue colour with the interior in beautiful Beige Corduroy fabric. No expense was spared. The restoration was completed in 2016.
A nice detail is the absence of the Porsche logo, which was not designed at this time. Maxx Hoffman discussed this idea with Ferry Porsche earlier this year. The idea was that to improve sales in the US they needed a logo that showed that Porsche was a quality product. So a year later the famous Porsche Crest appeared on the 1953 models.
