Long-term single-family ownership for the past 54 years. According to the Porsche Kardex, this Pre-A Speedster was delivered by Hoffman Motors in New York, New York, and finished in Signal Red (color code 601) with Black upholstery. Factory options include sealed beam headlights and a Speedometer in miles. According to the previous owner, this Speedster was last driven in the late 1970s before going into long-term storage for the next four decades. The interior features VDO instrumentation, Speedster seats, door panels, Speedster door caps, and a VDM steering wheel. The exterior is basically complete, including the chrome windshield frame, soft-top frame, bumpers, bumperettes, and 3.25” x 16” painted steel slotted wheels (dater coded 9/55). The undercarriage will need rust repair, including the battery box floor, floor pans, longitudinals, and closing panels. Mechanically, this Speedster is not running or driving. It does have the matching 1600cc engine (Type 616/1), a manual 4-speed transmission (Type 519), and four-wheel drum braking system. Complete with the Porsche Kardex and soft top. Speedster projects are getting harder and harder to find. This is an incredible opportunity to acquire a 356 Pre-A Speedster project needing restoration.
