As told in an interview with Top Gear, the idea remained, and later Preuninger would later revisit the idea and decided to surprise Hatz with the first GT3-engined Cayman test vehicle at his upcoming birthday.

Evolving into the full production Cayman GT4 RS that we know today, it is very easy to see how even two individuals so well versed in Porsche became enamored with their latest creation. Featuring everything on Porsche’s menu to distinguish a true RennSport model, the Cayman GT4 RS utilizes lightweight construction, additional downforce, higher engine power and, of course, more direct handling. Powered by a 4.0-liter, six-cylinder engine producing 493 horsepower, this naturally-aspirated powerplant is a symphony of mechanical greatness, enhanced by the functional side air intakes and glorious 9,000 RPM redline. After extensive road testing by Car and Driver, a verdict was reached that this is “The no-compromise Cayman we’ve all been waiting for.”
