With the Spyder, the working range is another 500 rpm higher than with other Porsche models, the red line is only at 8000 rpm. Instead of the turbo four-cylinder otherwise installed in the 718, what may be the last naturally aspirated engine that Porsche will put in a road-going sports car is right behind the seats in the Spyder: six cylinders arranged in a boxer pattern and with a displacement of four liters achieve their maximum torque of 420 Nm at 5000 up to 6800 rpm, its maximum output of 420 hp at 7600 rpm and its limit only at 8000 rpm. Values that previously could only be dreamed of in the Boxster.
The engine is bolted to a wonderfully crisp and sometimes rough and therefore authentic gearbox.
So that even inexperienced drivers can have fun, the auto-blip button on the center tunnel lures: if it is pressed, the electronics fire when changing gears with double-declutching, thus reducing the speed jumps when shifting down, increasing driving stability and also reducing wear. So you drive the open two-seater almost constantly at the limit and turn the gears with relish.
Otherwise, Porsche has held back when it comes to electronic support. Sure, there is stability control and you can activate the flap control in the exhaust. But the Spyder doesn't have silliness like a mode switch for different driving profiles on the steering wheel, a rain warning like in the new 911, or a distance radar. But a racing chassis from the sister model Cayman GT with 30 millimeters less ground clearance and a new axle construction, category ultra hard.
Even in the 1950s, the Porsche engineers were a bit unreasonable – in a good way. In 1957, for example, they sent the then freshly tested 718 RSK Spyder into what is probably the toughest long-distance race in the world, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. A year later he took third and fourth place there. This was followed by victories in the European Hillclimb Championship and the Targa Florio in 1959. Its direct successor: the 718 RS 60 Spyder. Together they dominated the mountain championships for years.
The presentation color was chosen for this special vehicle. The legend lives on in the new 718 Spyder in GT silver on the outside and equipped with the optional Spyder Classic interior package on the inside. Starting with the specific two-tone look in Bordeaux red and black – which can also be found on the soft top of the new 718 Spyder if desired. In contrast to this: extended features made of black Alcantara®, as in motorsport with Alcantara® GT sports steering wheel and the shift lever of the manual 6-speed gearbox also in Alcantara®. In addition, the carbon sports bucket seats and the pedals and footrests in a sports look also match. The trim strips painted in GT Silver Metallic counter the expressive color combination with simple elegance and are reminiscent of the style of historic racing vehicles.
For many, the Spyder is much more fun than the 911 and drives almost as fast. After all, it not only sprints from 0 to 100 in 4.4 seconds, but also cracks the 300 mark at full throttle for the first time – albeit just barely.
The engine comes from the 911 series, the 991, the transplant was relatively easy. The lightweight top is known from the predecessor. What is new is the aerodynamics, which mainly benefit from a new diffuser at the rear. Because the sports exhaust system, with black tailpipes, takes up less space, more air can now flow under the car and thus generate downforce on the rear axle for the first time in the Boxster. This is another reason why the two-seater literally sticks to the asphalt.
Conclusion: Everything is right here, because the top model 718 Spyder is an open pleasure with 911 technology and racing genes for purists and cool calculators. In the presentation color and the bi-color Spyder Classic interior from German delivery and first hand with only 20,300 km, this vehicle is well on the way to becoming a valuable classic. Last but not least, since the last naturally aspirated engine in this model series was probably installed here, this example will give its new owner a lot of pleasure.
Vehicle history:
On December 20th, 2019 the first delivery was made by the Porsche Center Munich to the first and so far only owner.
On December 2nd, 2019 at km 10 the so-called sales inspection was carried out in the Porsche Center Munich.
In February 2023 at km 20,292 the vehicle will receive its first service including an oil and brake fluid change at the Porsche Center 5-Seen in Gilching.
The vehicle received a current TÜV in December 2022.

The body is in new vehicle condition. The closing behavior and the fitting accuracy of the doors and hoods is impeccable. All gap dimensions of doors, hoods and all attachments such as rocker panels, bumper panels and decorative grilles correspond to the new condition. The body is almost free of wear and tear.
Exterior paintwork
The condition of the paintwork is like that of a new car. There are no stone chips on the front of the vehicle. The paintwork is in the original paint at factory level.

All add-on parts of the vehicle are complete. They are in like-new, pristine condition all round.

The glazing of the vehicle is free of stone chips and scratches.
interior
Seats and panels
The entire seating system, the side panels and the center console are in new car condition. There are no signs of wear.

The vehicle has the standard instruments, all of which are technically and optically in perfect condition. All instruments are working properly at this point.

The function and precision of the steering are in new car condition.
