The vehicle in detail

The 356 Cabrio’s clientele was hoping for a convertible variant. Due to the emerging safety consciousness of buyers, the later presentation of the 911 Targa was an acclaimed success.

In addition to the standard version described above, there was also the then-rare “high-end version” as a 2.0 S with 160 hp, which for the time meant brute power in a single car, considering that the average car was equipped with 30-50 hp. The optional factory Recaro sport seats rounded out the sporty handling perfectly.

This Polo Red 911 2.0 S Targa with the rare softwindow, first delivered in Germany, has all of these coveted extras from the factory.

Check the Kadex to recreate the factory delivery condition.
This 911 2.0 S shows in glossy, but repainted years ago, polo red 6802 B.

The current 3rd owner is selling the car due to age.
In 1975 he bought it from the 2. owner, the workshop foreman at the Porsche dealer, who bought it before from the Porsche dealer as 1. owner.

This 911 has been in a collection for the last few years, has hardly been driven, and shows the typical stall ailments. The engine starts immediately, runs smoothly and the transmission does its job silently, but there is some play in the shift linkage. Once you reach 120km/h, you feel a little less power, which is due to the carburetors. After the long standing time they should be overhauled.

The overall impression of this rare 2.0 S Softwindow Targa is quite good, but needs some love. The chassis does not need welding, but as mentioned, carburetors, shift linkage, brake hoses, etc. need some attention.

In 1978, due to an oil problem, the original engine got overhauled direct from Porsche.

This 911 2.0 S Softwindow Targa comes accident free with all matching colors and numbers.

Nonetheless, this 911 combines all the rarities of a 911 at the “factory high-end level” of the time, making this Targa one of the most sought-after Porsche 911 Targas.

See for yourself with the pictures below, … bid, … win, … and start the season with this rare beauty.
