1968 Porsche 911 2.0 SWB
LHD, 60,000 Miles, Huge history file, Original documents, 100 milaes since restoration
We are proud to offer for sale this beautiful example of a 1968 Porsche 911 2.0 Short-wheelbase. This is a matching numbers car that has recently been sympathetically restored to a very high standard. Manufactured in March 1968, just 5 months before the LWB B series cars were launched, making this one of the last SWB 911’s to leave the factory. The car was sold new via PON Automobielhandel of Amersfoort in the Netherlands, a well established dealer network still operating today, by August 1968 it was in Montpellier France, owned by a Mr George Allard. Mr Allard owned the car for more than 20 years and was certainly very meticulous when it came to servicing and maintenance, with a large ring binder present full of invoices for work carried out on the car. Regularly serviced at the renowned Sonauto Porsche main dealer in Paris. Interestingly in 1970 & 1971 Mr Allard brought the car to his home in Norfolk and while he was here had the car serviced by the famous UK Porsche main dealer A.F.N Ltd as well as having work carried out locally in Norfolk. Also included in the history folder is the original service schedule booklet, this documents numerous services throughout the 60’s & 70’s which are then backed up by the invoices in the file, a great piece of history. Interestingly this car was originally destined for the U.S but for some reason it never left Europe making it very rare, only 473 US examples were produced between Aug 1967 & July 1968. Having its history so well documented and the same owner for such a long time ads great provenance to this car. In 1989 the car was sold to a Mr Manning of Norfolk, himself associated with Porsche here in the UK. The car was then sold on in 2002 to a Mr Daniels & then to the latest owner, a Porsche collector in 2013, who due to the originality and overall condition of the car decided to have the car thoroughly restored by his own team of engineers, including a complete engine rebuild. Having gone through a full restoration, using as many original parts as possible, the car was finally painted in its original factory colour of Polo Red (6802) & the result is simply stunning. The car is now tuned and on the button, driving faultlessly ready for a new owner. This is a rare opportunity to purchase such a well restored SWB 911 with such well documented history.
