Héritage Automobiles is proud to offer for sale a truly unique Porsche 911: a 1979 911 SC transformed into a 911 2.7 RS in the pure spirit of backdating, with a full restoration carried out by the Porsche Son Centre in Norway.
Originally, this car was a 1979 Porsche 911 SC equipped with the European-spec 930/30 engine. In 2014, it underwent a complete and meticulous transformation at Porsche Son’s workshops. The goal: to faithfully recreate the spirit, aesthetics, and legendary lightness of the 911 2.7 RS. This approach, known as “backdating,” involves turning a more recent base car into a visual and mechanical homage to an older model — in this case, the iconic RS of the 1970s.
As part of the restoration, the original engine was completely rebuilt and upgraded from 3.0 to 3.2 liters of displacement. This enhancement provides remarkable torque and exceptional drivability, while preserving the light, agile character of the early 911s. The quality of the work is worth noting: all restoration steps are thoroughly documented, with supporting invoices that attest to the expertise and professionalism of Porsche Son’s technicians.
In April 2015, the current owner acquired the vehicle directly from Porsche Son. At the time, it had only 400 km on the odometer; today it shows just 5,950 km. Carefully used for classic rallies and various automotive events, it remains in outstanding condition, both mechanically and cosmetically.
In June 2024, a maintenance service was performed by Automobiles Classiques at 3,738 km. A full service will be carried out prior to sale by a Porsche specialist to ensure perfect mechanical condition upon delivery.
Behind the wheel, this backdated 911 is pure driving pleasure. Its lightness, engine torque, and precise chassis make it a lively, efficient, and deeply engaging machine. It blends the best of classic driving sensations with a modernized powertrain offering true performance.
This Porsche 911 2.7 RS Backdate is a rare opportunity for a discerning enthusiast or collector seeking a unique example with clear history, restored to the highest standards by an official Porsche centre.
The car is available for viewing by appointment only in Neuilly-sur-Seine, accompanied by its full documentation.
