A Porsche 911 Carrera G-Model Targa from 1984 is up for bid in this auction. The Targa with the VIN WP0EB0913ES161465 was first registered by the first owner in the USA, and over the years the Zuffenhausen sports car came to Germany – the seller himself imported the 911 from North Carolina in 2012. All measures for successful registration in Germany were then taken and this Targa now has German papers. An exact history of the vehicle cannot be accessed, which is why the so-called matching numbers cannot be confirmed – but the seller assumes this. The Targa does not yet have an H approval; according to the seller, the TÜV is valid until July 2023.
After the car was imported to Germany, according to the current owner, the targa roof was completely restored and many seals were replaced. In 2010, the body was completely repainted in gold in the USA; according to the seller's statements, this Porsche Targa never suffered an accident. The front headlights and the rear lights have no cracks and there is no damage to the bumpers. At the rear, you'll notice the huge turbo rear wing, which is in very good condition. There are no external modifications to the exterior that deviate from the original condition, and no areas of corrosion can be found on the body.
Classic, clean, original Fuchs rims in chrome/body color adorn the external appearance of the Porsche together with tires from the Good Year brand – which, according to the current owner, are still in 70-90% of their new condition. The brakes on this Porsche are also in 70-90% new condition, and there are apparently no deficiencies in the chassis area.
A mixture of the colors black and brown can be found in the interior of this 911 Targa: The 3-spoke sports steering wheel and the original seats of the Porsche were completely re-leathered in 2021, and the rear seats also received new leather. A few defects in the interior include a few cracks in the brown dashboard, otherwise there is apparently no damage to the interior of this Porsche. In addition to electric windows, electrically adjustable mirrors and a headlight cleaning system, the 911's equipment also includes a Becker Traffic Pro car radio and larger speakers are installed in the door panels and in the parcel shelf. The seller mentions that the electric mirror adjustment and the headlight cleaning system do not work, but otherwise all controls work without any problems.
A look at the classic collection of clocks in the cockpit also shows the mileage: the speedometer shows a mileage of 230,030 kilometers. This Targa has already been converted to German fittings with a KM display. According to the seller, the mileage can be partially traced. The existing documents include a technical data sheet from Porsche Classic. The instruments must be certified to function properly.
A 3.2-liter engine works in the rear of this G-Model Targa, which in the US version produces 207 hp – the boxer engine is coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission. The Porsche underwent a final service in July 2023; the most recent work carried out included converting the high beam and headlight flasher to relay control.
The underside of the G model is rust-free, unwelded, cavity sealed and treated with underbody protection. A Targa from Porsche has long been cult, regardless of the model series. The G model impresses with its classic 911 virtues and the puristic and unfiltered driving behavior. In this 911 Targa offered here, the turbo rear wing and the gold-colored body cause a stir. In addition, the rust-free and, contrary to the overall mileage, very good condition of this Porsche 911 is impressive.
