Attractive features from this unit include the electric roof, the 911 S-style front spoiler, the 5-speed gearbox, and the Blaupunkt Paris radio, among other features.
Being an E model, and like the S models, it features Bosch mechanical fuel injection.
The unique feature of the 1972 models is that they have an external oil filler cap (Ölklappe in German), a detail only found on models from that year, which makes them more sought-after. Porsche engineers moved the oil tank forward to better center the vehicle’s weight. They thought it would be a good idea to add oil through an exterior hatch located in front of the right rear wing. The following year, Porsche decided to remove this exterior hatch, as it confused many drivers and gas station attendants, who thought it was the fuel filler neck.
In 1972, only 1.124 units of the 2.4 E Coupé were produced, making it the lowest-produced version, behind the T and S versions.
