1973 Porsche 911 2.4E Targa

One of only 1.055 F-series 911E Targa’s built by Porsche, this car was sold in France, July 1973. According to the paperwork the 911 would remain in France til 2017 when the French owner moved to Belgium. Shortly after this, being acquired by its current owner in 2019. The owner bought the car with 109.000km on the odo; which today only shows a little over 1.000km extra.

The car presents well and paint measurements are good all around the car. According to its owner and our inspection, no evidence of rust repairs or prior accident damage could be found.

The vehicle in detail

When in our shop last year to have the brakes & tyres replaced; we discussed the sweaty engine and gearbox and the owner decided to have these reconditioned. New brake discs, pads, fluid, tyres, exhaust… are all new and good to go! Just prior to being advertised for sale; the restoration work on the – matching numbers! – engine and gearbox were completely finished and the engine is still in its break-in period!

Acquired by the current owner several years ago, this Targa still presents in excellent condition overall. Providing the benefits of open-air motoring with the security of a closed coupe, early 911 Targas offer the best of both worlds and prove to be eminently usable today—impressive when considering that this example left Stuttgart nearly 50 years ago.

A 1973 911 E Targa is an excellent automobile in every regard, one that combines both performance, practicality, and the thrill of open-air motoring. A wonderful opportunity to own one these 2.4-litre Porsche 911E, a car in great condition and a classic color scheme..

This car is accompanied by a large binder of files, invoices, old titles, the Porsche Certificate, and more… We can also see the original French owner’s manual and maintenance book! Enjoying a fresh engine & gearbox rebuilt, it is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.

The car currently has Belgian registration and passes technical inspection without any remarks.

The 911 E was designed to be the most comfortable of the 911 models; many were lavishly appointed with a variety of factory options. Conceived to fit in between the 911 T and the 911 S, the E designation stood for einspritzung, German for “injection,” noting mechanical fuel injection. For 1973 Porsche produced just 1,055 examples of the 911 E Targa.
