Quick Recap: The E series for 1972–1973 model years (August 1971 to July 1972 production) consisted of the same models, but with a new, larger 2,341 cc (2.3 L) engine. This is known as the “2.4 L” engine, despite its displacement being closer to 2.3 litres. The 911E (Type 911/52 engine) and 911S (Type 911/53) used Bosch mechanical fuel injection (MFI) in all markets.
1973 Porsche 911E Coupe – Irish Green over Tan | Now available from Euro Prestige Imports in Charlotte, North Carolina, is this stunning 1973 Porsche 911E Coupe, finished in nonmetallic Irish Green over a tan interior. Showing 9500 miles. Representing the final year of the original F-body 911s, this long-hood classic retains its numbers-matching, mechanically fuel-injected 2.4L flat-six engine, paired with a 5-speed 915 manual gearbox.
Originally delivered in Ivory (Code 46), the car was refinished in Irish Green under prior ownership—a nod to Porsche heritage, as the color was featured on the very first 911s in 1964 and selected again for the one-millionth 911 produced in 2017.
Factory options include the desirable Comfort Equipment Package, two-stage heated rear window, front and rear stabilizer bars, and optional wheel well moldings. The car also features 15” polished Fuchs wheels wrapped in new tires. Minor cosmetic imperfections such as a small scratch beneath the rear model emblem are noted and documented in the image gallery.
Inside, the cabin is appointed in tan upholstery with matching carpets and a contrasting black dashboard. Deeply bolstered Sport Seats have been added, along with a wood-rimmed Nardi three-spoke steering wheel. The Comfort Equipment package enhances the interior with aluminum sill covers and 911S-style gauges. Additional original features include a tinted windshield, noise suppression, a loudspeaker, and a later-installed Pioneer head unit.
The original 2.4L engine (stamped 6231950, matching the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity) uses Bosch mechanical fuel injection and sends power to the rear wheels via the 5-speed manual transmission. Under current ownership, the car received upgraded Bilstein shocks and a stainless steel Dansk sport muffler. Within the last 5,000 miles, it has benefited from extensive maintenance including:
New spark plugs
Valve adjustment
New alternator and starter
Brake master cylinder replacement
Wheel alignment
Routine oil changes
Note: The cold start device has been disconnected from the fuel system, and the speed switch is currently inoperable.
The car was acquired by its previous Florida-based owner in 2011 and driven sparingly—just 5,000 miles—while receiving consistent maintenance. The most recent owner kept it garaged in North Carolina, enjoying occasional drives along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
This 911E Coupe is offered with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, a factory toolkit, and a clean title.
For collectors and enthusiasts alike, this tastefully presented and mechanically sorted 1973 911E in historic Irish Green stands as a timeless example of Porsche’s air-cooled legacy..
