1968 Porsche 911 2.0 SWB Coupé – Fully Restored – Sportomatic – Blutorange – Matching Engine
Offered for sale is an exceptional 1968 Porsche 911 2.0 Short Wheelbase Coupé, presented in its stunning original colour, Blutorange (Tangerine), a rare and iconic colour in the late 1960s.
Also very rare and often misunderstood, is the Sportomatic which deserves far greater appreciation than it generally receives. Developed by Porsche to provide effortless driving without sacrificing sporting character. In 1967 Porsche won the 84h race of the Nurburgring with the 911 fitted with Sportomatic gearbox.
Apart from that, It offers an exceptionally enjoyable driving experience. In modern traffic, the car feels surprisingly easy and relaxed to use while retaining all the sound, character and engagement of an early 911. What a joy! Compared to a dogleg gearbox.
This beautifully restored example combines all the charm and delicacy of the early short-wheelbase 911. Both the engine and Sportomatic transmission have been comprehensively rebuilt, resulting in a car that drives beautifully and inspires confidence.
