Porsche 911 S

Porsche 911 S

Targa, 1968

Highlights

  • Very small production of 422 examples
  • Rare 911 S Softwindow targa, only two years production
  • Two owners only, full matching numbers

Even if the 911 S was not marketed in the United States in 1968 due to anti-pollution regulations, this Porsche 911 S Targa “Soft Window” entered American soil via a special order placed by Porsche Car Southest, Inc in Jacksonville, Florida. Upon arrival, it was shipped to local dealer RBM of Atlanta, Inc. and sold to its first owner, who then kept it for 44 years!

Those cars are very rare, this is one survivor out of 422 Ex from a two years only production.

The vehicle in detail

In 2012 the first owner after 44 years of ownership sold this 911 S Targa “Soft Window” to a well known specialist in classic Porsche cars. After fitting a new Targa seal, refurbishing the Fuchs wheels and restoring the suspension arms, the car was sold to a local collector who stored it at his home before recently reselling it to the same dealer. With a mileage of 83,600 miles (137,000 km) and a unique patina, this 911 gives off an incredible charm. The original leather seats which had been removed and stored for several decades are in perfect condition. The rear seats, door panels, dashboard and original instruments are also in good condition; only the carpets were changed in 2012.

The engine was recently overhauled by a Porsche specialist, the châssis has been controlled for rust and we have pictures of work done before, during and after so you will see than the car is very well preserved, while the gearbox and braking system are perfectly usable and reliable. “Matching numbers”, this charming Porsche 911 S Targa “Soft Window” has a tool kit, a jack, its spare wheel and its set of numbered keys. It comes with its Porsche certificate of authenticity, the owner’s manual, its original price sheet showing factory options which was showcased onto the car’s window at the dealership. To complete the history of this car and reinforce its unique character, the Californian black plates, the first provisional title issued in 1968 and registration certificates from 2012 to 2019 will be provided. This is an attractive choice, with characteristics which are sure to seduce the most demanding classic Porsche enthusiasts.

On the pictures you can see the car under pan before stripping, during and after showing than this car is very well preserved from rust.
