Following restoration, the vehicle has undergone annual servicing at DUEL and has just been collected after a recent service – ready to drive and in excellent condition. Its rich history is crowned by its participation in renowned classic rallies, including several editions of the Tulip Rally and two Winter Trials – all proof of its robust reliability and roadworthiness in challenging conditions.
A special detail: this Porsche was driven in 2008 and 2009 by Gijs van Lennep, the Netherlands’ most famous Porsche driver and Le Mans winner – a historical connection that adds extra lustre to the story of this car.
The 911S is delivered in absolute concours condition, with a fully documented history, including photo reports of the restoration, maintenance invoices and rally registrations.
In recent years the Porsche 911 SWB has proved a versatile car in historic motorsport aside from eligibility, the cars “easy to run” reputation and ability to still be used on the road or for Tours and rallies such as the Tour Auto and the Modena Centro Ore have made them favorite amongst rallyists as well. Add to that list their iconic shape and one of the most enjoyable driving experiences of any historic racing car and it’s not hard to understand why these cars have always had a strong following.
This beautiful silver Porsche 911 S from 1967 in the much sought-after Short Wheelbase (SWB) type is considered by the true enthusiasts as the ultimate historic rally car.
This example has been prepared in an incredible professional manner by true professionals. From the bare metal to paintwork and interior, up to the wonderful technique: everything was redone completely and with only one goal: utter perfection. The owner had commissioned this with that sole purpose, perfection. All the knowledge and expertise have been put into this project by the experts of the Dutch company DUEL Motorsport. We are confident that a true enthusiast, connoisseur or specialist will confirm that a more professional preparation in fact it is not easy to find. There are over 250 photos available of the complete rebuild of this car early 2011. The pictures show the preparation started from a bare bodyshell, which is the only proper way. No expenses have been spared during the rebuild.
The list of improvements to get the reliability and performance at the highest level is really too long to list here but Porsche connoisseurs and rally cars enthusiasts will recognize the quality. This car has a completely overhauled (matching numbers) engine which brings approximately 280 bhp and features a twin spark ignition, Porsche Motorsport driveshafts, differential lock, special RSR 100 liters tank with foam padding, original mini-lite wheels, aluminum tank and engine and gearbox protection, full roll cage, KONI shock absorbers, etc. etc. The car comes with complete documentation.
Everything is present and ready to serve and enjoy the most demanding rally team. This 911 S SWB has a great handling, excellent brakes and more than enough power. All parts are restored in a historically correct manner. You will notice this is also at an extremely high level of detail. Everything is done with true love for the brand and the awareness of working at a piece of historical heritage. This also refers partly to the exclusivity of this type because of the 911 Coupé S versions and with the short wheelbase (SWB), there are only 1818 units built. Perhaps one more reason to add this particular car to your collection and beside that enjoying it competing all kinds of rides and rallies.
After the restoration and preparation that was completed in 2012, this Porsche has only driven 1200 km. It has not competed in tough rallies, and drove only a few fun rides under beautiful weather conditions.
In fact it may be clear that this rare 911 S SWB is ready to be used by the next owner after this “running-in” period. Are you the one who can handle the best a historic Porsche 911 has to offer?
