The car was completed on May 1, 1970, and delivered new to California. Numerous invoices and period documents from its early U.S. history remain on file. In 2014 the 911 was imported to Europe, where it received a professional repaint in its original Green Metallic. The body panels and floors appear to be original, and even details such as the period coco mats remain in place. At the same time, the tachometer was correctly converted to kilometers for European use. A Momo steering wheel is currently installed to provide sharper steering feedback, but the original wheel is also supplied with the car.
Five years ago, we placed the car with its current owner in Portugal. Under his care, the matching-numbers engine was entrusted to Porsche for a comprehensive rebuild. The work, fully documented, not only improved the overall cosmetics of the engine bay but also addressed the common minor oil leaks associated with early 911s. Although Porsche did not specify transmission numbers for this model, the gearbox is of the correct type and year, strongly indicating it is the original unit.
Today this 911 T Coupe presents as an exceptionally attractive and well-optioned example of the model. It retains its matching-numbers engine, correct gearbox, original color combination, and a fine balance of authenticity and tasteful restoration work. Importantly, it is offered complete with its original owner’s manual, both original keys, spare wheel, and a substantial file of service invoices documenting its history including the Porsche Certificate.
Classic 911s of this era are increasingly sought after by collectors worldwide, and examples with such strong specification and documented originality are especially rare. With its elegant period color scheme, rare options, and freshly rebuilt engine, this 1971 911 T is ready to provide its next owner with many more years of enjoyable motoring — and is equally at home on the road, at shows, or as part of a discerning collection.
Currently registered in Portugal, the car is offered on behalf of our client. We will of course handle all paperwork necessary to secure Belgian or other European registration for the next custodian.
