Porsche factory restorations are among the rarest and highest-quality forms of vehicle restoration - not only because of their documented value, but also because of their technical and historical consistency.
In the case of this 1972 Porsche 911 T/E Targa 2.4 "oil flap", the restoration was carried out directly at Porsche Classic in Zuffenhausen - at the exact location where this vehicle first rolled off the production line more than half a century earlier.
The work was carried out as part of a complete frame-off concept: the bodyshell, drive, chassis, electrics and all add-on parts were dismantled into their individual components, refurbished or replaced to factory standard and reassembled with the utmost precision in accordance with the original production specifications. The restoration was completed in 2018 and fully documented by Porsche Classic. The vehicle comes with a specially created restoration book with hundreds of pictures documenting every step of the restoration - from the bare bodywork to the final adjustments.
Since completion, the vehicle has only covered around 3,100 kilometers. Today, it is in a condition that is technically and visually equivalent to that of a new car - and in some respects even better. The restoration costs alone amounted to several hundred thousand euros, excluding the base vehicle.
The vehicle was delivered as a US-spec, now wears the color combination Gemini Blue Metallic, with a black interior and is of course Matching Numbers. As part of the factory restoration, all components were refurbished or replaced true to the original by Porsche Classic, always in accordance with the historical factory documents and technical specifications from Zuffenhausen.
The complete documentation of the restoration, including the Porsche restoration book with hundreds of photos, is included, as are the on-board folder, tool roll and vehicle file.
