History
This car was first delivered on October 5, 1967, by Schmidt & Koch Porsche in Bremen, Germany. Notably, it was ordered with the highly desirable Recaro sport seats, a rare option. After a short time in Germany, the car was shipped to America. In 1971, now painted light blue, it was purchased by Darlene Urlaub for $3,500. Darlene, a teacher from Riverside, California, used her 912 as it was meant to be used. She not only drove it to the school where she worked but was also frequently seen at Riverside Raceway, where she met her husband, Jim Kincaid. In addition to being a member of the Riverside Raceway Booster Club, Darlene was a proud member of the Porsche Club of America.
In the late 1980s, a small fire broke out in the engine bay when the car was started in the driveway. After that, the 912 remained in the Kincaid family’s backyard for about 20–25 years. “We always swore we would restore it, but we never did,” said their son Joe. Fortunately, the warm California climate preserved the body in good condition.
After nearly 40 years, the car was sold in 2010 and, through a Dutch dealer, ended up with well-known Belgian collector Erwin Beerens. Under his supervision, the 912 underwent a meticulous two-year restoration, which was completed in 2014. Impressively, the car’s condition before restoration was outstanding—there was no welding, and all body panels still carried their original numbers, confirming that the car remained highly original, solid, and well-preserved.
Finished in silver metallic paint with a black interior and a five-speed manual transmission, this 912 features rare factory options, including Recaro sport seats, tinted glass, and chrome wheels. During the restoration, an original wooden steering wheel was installed, along with fog lights. The engine was rebuilt by a specialist and has covered just 100 kilometers since 2014, as indicated on the odometer, which was reset during the restoration. Restoration invoices are available. All mechanical components, including shocks, brakes, and bushings, are new. In 2025, various parts were replaced to ensure that the new owner can fully enjoy this stunning 912 in the summer.
This Porsche 912 was built late in 1967 and therefore is a 1968 model. Delivered new on 5th October 1967, the car was titled and registered as 1967.
