You didn't buy this car for the price, as it cost almost the same as a 911. Only 3,300 914/6s were produced because most customers opted for a 911.
The 914/6 remained an underrated car for years. This opinion changes when you drive a 914/6. Thanks to its ideal weight distribution, the 914/6 drives tighter and sharper than a 911 from the same period. A Porsche with real sports car ambitions. Nowadays, there are many enthusiasts for the 914/6.
Our 914/6 was delivered in California on April 19, 1970, by Porsche dealer Gabriel & Olsen to Mr. Michel Cashman. He owned the car for 21 years. (Original maintenance booklet available)
The last American owner, Mr. John Shaffer, purchased the car in 2009 and had the entire car technically serviced in 2010, including an engine overhaul ($30,000). All this was done at 55,400 miles. The car has hardly been driven since then. In 2015, at 56,234 miles, Mr. Shaffer gave the car a new lease of life. This included work on the brakes, oil and filters, fuel tank, handbrake, etc. (work due to long periods of inactivity. ($4,500)
In 2015, the car was sold to the Netherlands. Mileage was 56,250. The car ended up in a collection in the Netherlands and was again hardly driven. The car was never registered with a Dutch license plate.
