The Porsche 964 RS isn’t one of those cars you “explain” with options or luxury, but with intention. This was Porsche’s answer to the question: what happens when you strip a 911 back to its core, with minimal distractions and maximum driving feel? The 964 RS was marketed in the early 1990s as a lightweight, distinctly sporty Carrera 2 variant, intended as a direct driver’s car you can feel in your hands and back, not in a brochure.

The vehicle in detail

In Indischrot (Indish Red), that character is especially true. Not because the color has to be “rare,” but because it perfectly reflects the RS philosophy: clean, classic, and without nuance that embellishes the story. “Indischrot” is also a well-known Porsche color name from the 964 era.

Technically, the 964 RS is all about sharpness. The RS featured a 3.6-liter boxer engine (type M64/03) with at least 260 hp, coupled with a G50/10 transmission with shorter ratios and a limited-slip differential. The goal wasn’t “more power for the sake of more power,” but a car that responds faster, feels tighter, and communicates more clearly, precisely because it’s stripped of unnecessary comfort layers.
