In August 2023, the Cup vehicle underwent a major service. Among other things, a pressure loss test was carried out during the engine inspection with positive results, the spring plates were replaced with racing spring plates as a precaution (there was a recall campaign by Porsche in the early 90s) and the valves were adjusted. All fluids such as engine oil with filter, transmission oil and brake fluid changed, spark plugs replaced, distributor cap and fingers replaced and the axle geometry measured and adapted to the 18-inch wheels, setting selected for trackdays.
November 2024 Clutch completely renewed with flywheel, sintered drive disk, release fork, release bearing, pressure plate and minor ancillary work such as renewal of the engine oil seal. Invoice amount € 4.462,00.
The original old vehicle registration document is available.
The vehicle has 8 tires, the 18-inch RH Speedline rims can be seen in the photos.
The vehicle also has the original one-piece Cup rims 8×17 ET 52 at the front and 9.5×17 ET 68 at the rear.
A real rarity - 964 Carrera Cup vehicle partly in its original paint and without Cup racing use in complete original condition.
Matching numbers - engine, transmission and all body parts.
1991 ( ZMS 409XXX ) vehicle with road registration.
All logbooks and the original service booklet are present, a car passport is not available.
One of the milestones in the model history of the 911 type 964 is undoubtedly the Cup version M001 for the fastest one-make cup in the world.
Porsche veteran Herbert Linge was in charge of the planning.
The Carrera Cup, initially intended only for Germany, replaced the 944 turbo Cup in 1990 and was an immediate success.
The expansion to other national championships and the international Supercup were logical consequences. In the meantime, 33 Cup seasons have been held, now with the current 992 GT3 Cup.
Cup 964s from the first four years, in which 360 cars were built, have become rare and are a hot topic among collectors looking for exclusivity.
The previous owner of this vehicle, who is active in historic motorsport, also recognized this when he discovered a pristine example in the Lake Constance region, which was delivered to Italy in 1991 as a reserve car for a Porsche Cup team and was subsequently sold on to a private owner.
The only catch was that it was far too good to drive...
On the one hand, the M001 we inspected, delivered in "Guards Red", was flawless in every respect. However, its owner didn't really seem to want to sell, but after a long period of consideration, he reported that he had ordered a new GT3 and signaled his willingness to talk.
The deal was finally struck to the satisfaction of all parties involved.
Not much is known about possible races in Italy or neighboring Switzerland. Car documents from a national sports commission such as the ONS or its successor organization, the DMSB, were not handed over at the time of delivery.
The mint general condition suggests that there were no races at all. Accordingly, none could have been recorded.
The further sporting career of this Cup version was also discreet. The substance was simply too good for starts in the Porsche Classic Car Kumho Trophy.
in 2007, one year after the takeover, the vehicle was registered all year round.
A trip to the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix at the Nürburgring went down in the annals as the longest journey. "You have to get straight to the point - the original Cup suspension is clearly too hard for the road," and the background noise in the stripped-out interior is annoying: "There are two seats in the car, and I want to be able to talk to my companion on long freeway journeys. You can forget about that."
As a result, the 964 Cup was deregistered at the end of 2007 and stored in the collection.
