The possibility of open-top driving pleasure, breathtaking in every detail. The mid-model year 2001 Boxster received several key technical and equipment updates, including a power increase from 204 to 220 hp, an improved engine management system (Motronic 7.2), an electronic throttle, and upgrades to suspension bushings, stabilizer bars, and dampers (Porsche Stability Management). A glass rear window, clear headlights with white indicators, electric opening of the luggage compartments, and the desirable three-spoke steering wheel also became standard. The button layout around the infotainment system was revised, and the overall quality feels noticeably improved over the first generation. The original catalog price was €79,210.
The option list includes a Harman premium sound system, xenon headlights with washers, auto-dimming mirrors, rain sensor, heated seats, onboard computer, differential, electrically adjustable seatbacks, windows, and mirrors, CDR 22 radio with CD player, wind deflector, side airbags, spare wheel, rear storage compartment, CD storage, and a theft alarm (SCM class 3). Everything functions properly, and radio and key codes are present. While it’s not a luxury spec, it includes everything needed for enjoyable summer drives. With the 986 generation, options can’t be compared to modern cars – in this case, originality and low mileage are far more relevant.
This Porsche rolled off the line in June 2001 at the pre-production facility in Uusikaupunki, Finland, and was registered in March 2002 in Germany as a Porsche Niederlassung Stuttgart annual car. Exactly six months later, in October 2002, it was imported into the Netherlands with 10,995 km. Since then, it has had six private owners, including a garage owner who drove it privately. The last owner had it for over 2.5 years before trading it in with us for a younger Porsche 911. The exterior and wheels show no significant signs of use, and the car has an accident-free history. The convertible top was replaced in May 2024 with a two-year warranty. The original Fahrzeugbrief, Certificate of Conformity, several invoices, APK reports, and two keys are present.
Maintenance was performed by Porsche dealers until 2005, then by specialists. The following services are stamped in the maintenance book: 21,512 km (03-06-2004), 40,106 km (20-10-2005), 55,662 km (13-03-2008), 81,729 km (29-11-2011), 93,316 km (16-09-2019), 98,117 km (26-01-2023), 107,310 km (03-04-2024), and 114,758 km (29-10-2024). We are attempting to retrieve additional history from previous owners for the intervals in between. The APK is valid until 29 October 2025 but can be renewed upon request. The Continental SportContact 3 tires are from 2021 and still have at least 60% tread remaining all around. The engine sounds silky smooth, even on a cold start (no smoke), and the automatic shifts seamlessly. The battery was recently replaced. After arrival, we had the car professionally detailed, and the brake calipers (with new stickers), wheel hubs, and bolts painted to give the car a fresh appearance. A pre-purchase inspection is always welcome.
