Model history

The Porsche 991, introduced in 2011, was a completely redesigned 911 that was significantly more advanced in terms of technology but retained the iconic design of the classic model. For the first time, a mixed aluminum-steel construction was used, making the 991 around 40 kilograms lighter than its predecessor despite its larger dimensions. Greater body rigidity, new chassis geometries, and modern efficiency measures such as the start-stop system improved dynamics and fuel consumption. Visually, the 991 remained true to its heritage, but appeared more modern with features such as flatter LED taillights and larger air intakes.
