For the 991.1-generation 911 GT3 RS, Andreas Preuninger and his Porsche GT department took a liberal attitude to the use of lightweight materials. The front wings, engine cover, and bonnet lid were changed to carbon fibre, while the roof was magnesium. Even the enamel Porsche badge had to make way in favour of a wafer-thin transfer. Then, breathing through rear-quarter side intakes and nestling beneath a towering adjustable rear wing, a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six engine delivered 493 brake horsepower at a howling 8,250 rpm.
