Interior
The team in Zuffenhausen has put just as much effort into the black leather interior. Porsche has mounted a tachometer in chalk behind the heated GT sports steering wheel. The same light contrasting color can be found in the Sport Chrono clock, as well as in the stitching and GTS badges on the headrests of the adaptive sports seats. This creates a beautiful balance between dark and light, comparable to the balance between comfort and uncompromising racing DNA. The seats, underside of the dashboard, and door panels have a luxurious Alcantara finish, while the lightweight inlay panels on the dashboard and tunnel console are part of the Matt Carbon interior package. The layout of the Porsche 911 cockpit is as clean as ever, allowing such details to stand out even more. But of course, the builders don't want to make it too stark on board the roofless 992 Carrera GTS, as that would distract the driver too much from its fantastic performance...
Options & extras
The number of abbreviations on the options list is an achievement in itself. The PASM sports suspension brings the handsome body 10 mm closer to the asphalt, and PTV+ stands for Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus: a nice name for even nicer technology, because it significantly improves traction, both during acceleration and when cornering at high speed. As a result, you can grip the heated GT sports steering wheel with maximum confidence and be pushed back into the heated adaptive sports seats with memory function with extra conviction. The LED Matrix headlights are equipped with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS+), which automatically adjusts the lighting to the conditions. The Light Design package, in turn, can be fully customized to create an ambiance that suits your mood. The combination of Apple CarPlay and Bose Surround Sound is sure to appeal to audiophiles. Although they will be just as impressed by the sound of the sports exhaust as soon as they are challenged to set the stopwatch in the Sport Chrono package to a faster time. If you use the Porsche 992 GTS Cabriolet regularly, you will also know that it is not always appropriate to drive fast. Options such as Adaptive Cruise Control and a rearview camera are therefore more than welcome.
Technology & performance
The impressive level of equipment is largely focused on pure performance. Challenge the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter 6-cylinder boxer engine and you'll immediately understand why. A lightning-fast 8-speed PDK transmission sends 480 horsepower to the rear axle, converting the amazing boxer sound into an incredible acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h... in just 3.6 seconds! The 911 Carrera Cabriolet in GTS trim reaches a top speed of 309 km/h, clearly outperforming the heavier four-wheel drive versions. Even more important is the playful character of a rear-wheel drive Porsche. Some things (fortunately) never change...
