Under the hood lies a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine that revs to 9,000 rpm. This high-revving powerplant produces 525 hp and is paired with a 7-speed PDK transmission with extremely short shift times. The 0-100 km/h sprint is completed in 3.2 seconds, and the top speed is 296 km/h. But numbers don’t tell the whole story – the feeling, directness, and control are on a whole new level.
One of the most striking features is the extreme aerodynamics. The swan-neck rear wing is larger than ever and fully active: it adapts during driving and can even function as an air brake thanks to the DRS (Drag Reduction System). The front airflow, the wheel arch vents, and the complex floor structure create unparalleled downforce: up to 860 kg at 285 km/h.
Instead of traditional damper adjustments via tools, the GT3 RS features a system that allows the driver to adjust the rebound and compression of the front and rear dampers independently from the steering wheel – just like on a race car. The differential and ESC are also individually adjustable, giving Porsche a level of precision previously only available in track cars.
Porsche has made extensive use of carbon fiber (CFRP) to reduce weight. The doors, front end, roof, rear wing, and even the steering wheel spokes are all made of carbon fiber. The result is a dry weight of approximately 1,450 kg – extremely light for a modern sports car with so much technology on board.
Inside, everything exudes motorsport. Carbon fiber bucket seats, pull straps instead of door handles, a roll cage (optional with the Weissach package), and the necessary switches to adjust all chassis and performance parameters. Everything is functional – no unnecessary luxury, just the essentials for performance.
The Porsche 992 GT3 RS is no compromise. It is a track weapon that is just road legal. In an age where turbochargers and electrification are the norm, this naturally aspirated precision instrument remains a love letter to purist car enthusiasts. It’s raw, purposeful and extremely capable – a masterpiece of Porsche Motorsport.
