What makes the Heritage Design Edition so special is that it is the first car in Porsche’s Heritage Design series: a series of collector’s items in which Porsche takes an era for each edition and translates it to the present. Models such as the 911 Sport Classic, 911 S/T, and the 911 Spirit 70 later joined this line (Porsche explicitly positions them as an ongoing story revolving around eras and their 911s).
The details are exactly where you feel the difference. Porsche uses, among other things, a historic 1963 crest in multiple places (including the hood and wheel hubs) and a Heritage badge on the rear that refers to Porsche’s old “100,000 km” distinction. Furthermore, you see classic references in the graphics/livery and the carefully chosen accents. Inside, this continues just as far, with features such as corduroy as a nod to the 356 era and a numbered badge that underscores the limited status. These are not isolated gimmicks; it is one consistent theme. The Targa is packed with beautiful details.
And then there is the scarcity that is actually real: this Heritage Design Edition is limited to 992 examples worldwide. Not “rare” because someone claims so, but because Porsche has designated it that way.
This specific example makes it particularly interesting for the enthusiast who buys based on provenance and originality. It was originally delivered in the Netherlands, comes from the second owner, and is naturally dealer-maintained; for instance, the Targa underwent major maintenance last year on March 28, 2025, at 2,847 km. And importantly: this is the manual version (!). Especially with a Targa of this kind, that is a combination you don’t often come across: open-top driving with that classic Targa line, but with the involvement of shifting gears yourself.
