40th Anniversary Edition Highlights:
The 40th Anniversary Edition was considerably more than a cosmetic package. Porsche equipped these cars with several desirable upgrades that made them among the most distinctive naturally aspirated 996-generation Carreras. At the heart of the package is the X51 Powerkit, which increased the 3.6-liter flat-six to 345 horsepower. Combined with the 6-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel-drive chassis, the Anniversary Edition delivers the analog, naturally aspirated driving experience for which the 996 has become increasingly appreciated. The package also included unique exterior and interior detailing, a sportier chassis configuration, and the distinctive GT Silver Metallic finish. With only 1,963 produced worldwide, the 40th Anniversary Edition occupies a special position between the standard Carrera and Porsche’s more specialized 996 models.
