INTERIOR
The first room in this time capsule, the interior, is in pristine condition. The fire-retardant seat fabric, the dashboard plastics, and the aluminum door sills, despite being highly exposed, are perfect. The same is true for the Matter roll bar, the seat shells, the steering wheel, the gear knob, the handbrake lever, and the center console—everything is free of any traces of the car’s 20 years of life. The carpets are immaculate. Apart from a small tear on a leather knee pad to the right of the CD player, there are absolutely no flaws to be found.
OUTSIDE
The exterior is equally remarkable. The bodywork is in excellent condition, the metallic black is a deep, rich color. The wheels and brake calipers are like new, without any scratches or marks.
HISTORY
Produced between 2003 and 2005, this evolution received a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six engine, derived from the “Mezger” block used in competition. Its power increased to 381 horsepower, allowing the car to reach approximately 306 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in about 4.3 seconds. This engine, renowned for its robustness and ability to rev high, was paired with a six-speed manual transmission and a significantly revised chassis.
The 996.2 GT3 was the first project from the Porsche GT department under the direction of Andreas Preuninger, who improved the Mezger flat-six, gaining 21 hp compared to the first version and raising the rev limiter to 8,200 rpm. Developed by Porsche’s motorsport division, it followed in the footsteps of models designed to bring road cars closer to the world of motorsport. The Clubsport, the big sister of the original GT3 launched in 1999, was designed as a road-legal version inspired by the race car that competed in various GT series.
It further emphasizes the GT3’s track focus. Unlike the standard “Touring” version, it comes standard with several competition-inspired features: a welded roll cage, six-point harnesses, a fire extinguisher, and pre-wiring for a kill switch. Nomex bucket seats and firmer suspension settings help transform the car into a true track machine while still remaining street-legal.
