1998 Porsche 911 (996) Carrera 2 Tiptronic powered by the 3.4L Flat Six producing 300 bhp

Say hello to watercooling. With the new 911 Carrera, known internally as Generation 996, Porsche presented the successor to the classic 911. Apart from the 911 Carrera name and a six-cylinder flat engine at the rear, the newly developed model series had nothing in common with the previous 911.

The body of the 996 had grown significantly in size. Galvanised sheet steel and higher-strength steels were used to reinforce the bodyshell on both sides. The side mirrors of the series were now fixed in front of the side windows and no longer on the doors. The bonnet, front headlight units with low beam and high beam, indicators and fog lights, front wings and doors were identical on the 911 Carrera and Boxster as a result of the shared parts concept.

The vehicle in detail

The 996 C2 which we are presenting here today has been taken very good care of since she was purchased back in 1998. We can confidently say that, as the second owner is a good friend of ours, who takes good care of his cars and because this car is well documented. He purchased her from the first Belgian owner in 2019 who drove her for 150.000 kilometers over the course of 20 years. She was purchased new from Verellen in Geel, Belgium and we even have the original delivery tag and original invoice from when she was purchased.

She is finished in this classy metallic silver with the original silver twist wheels. We have measured the paint and can confirm that she is still wearing her original paint, which is in excellent condition throughout. Inside you will find a wonderful cream leather interior in which you will spend many fun miles. She comes with electric seats, CD changer, air conditioning, sound system and even a 90’s telephone! You can tell that her 2 owners have taken excellent care of her by looking at the interior alone.

Mechanically she is ready to hit the road. Whether it is the autobahn or an Alpine pass, she can handle it all. She is the 3rd 911 model to be offered with the Tiptronic S 5 speed automatic gearbox, meaning that it is dialed in and still offers the classic 911 driving experience that we have all come to love. Her engine is a true gem that sings through the revs. Importantly with these engines is that they do not smoke at startup and we are glad to report that this 996 is as clean as a whistle. She handles tight and drives the way they’re supposed to. She comes with all the original booklets including a complete service history.

The Porsche 996 Carrera 3.4 drives like a modern car, does 0-62 mph in around five seconds and tops out at 174 mph. It offers typical 911 utility and is priced very attractive, especially compared to its brothers. As an entry to the Porsche 911 world, the 996 seems to be perfect, especially for younger buyers. So, is the 996 Carrera 3.4 still a real 911? You bet!

Don’t miss your chance to own a wonderfully taken care of example of a very iconic car. Get in touch for more information and a test drive.
